The Executive Network (TEN) appoints Begga Berben (46) as partner with effect from today. Begga worked in the financial sector for 20 years, where she fulfilled various legal, strategic and commercial roles. She gained experience at home and abroad in various fields and was, among other things, secretary of the Board of Directors at ING during the financial crisis. Before that, Berben worked in the legal profession.
After completing her law studies in Belgium at the University of Leuven, Berben also obtained her law degree in Leiden. Berben worked as a corporate law lawyer at Loyens & Loeff in Rotterdam from 1999 to 2004. In 2004 she switched to ING's legal department. She then continued her career in ING's global mid-corporate client team, where she worked as a business manager in a strategic role. Berben worked for ING in New York for three years in the financial institutions sales team and upon return to the Netherlands she became managing director responsible for all commercial real estate financing in the south of the Netherlands. She was then appointed regional director of business banking in Amsterdam, responsible for all business financing in all sectors.
Berben is a good listener with boundless energy, curiosity and ambition. She is a natural connector with a focus on people. Her attention and passion for the individual, bringing people together and building strong teams with attention to each other, was and is the common thread in her career. As a partner of TEN, Berben wants to further promote these qualities within and outside the organization. She will focus broadly on TEN's portfolio with a focus on further expanding the financial services practice.
“Servant leadership with a sustainable vision of the future, being open to other voices and being a leader who focuses on the bigger picture, these are important elements for me in defining leadership. Innovation, artificial intelligence and exponential theories will accelerate every sector and this will also have to be responded to in the right way by every leader in every sector," says Berben. “I would like to contribute to finding, nominating and appointing the leaders of the future who are aware of the changing world.”
Jean Pierre Boelen (CEO TEN): “We are very pleased with the appointment of Begga Berben because, with her network and experience, she will anchor our position in the financial sector even more firmly. Begga is ideally the type of person to find the new leaders needed in our rapidly changing world, connect them with each other and further grow leadership.”
